Safety

Summary:

CBD has been shown to be non-psychoactive (will not cause a high) and is not addictive.

Per the World Health Organization Cannabidiol (CBD) 2018 report, "CBD is generally well tolerated, with a good safety profile. It does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm".

Various CBD trials looking at potential therapeutic uses have documented that CBD is tolerated well along with a safe profile. Most common side effects reported have been tiredness, diarrhea and weight/appetite changes. Chronic use and high doses up to 1,500 mg/day of CBD are reportedly well tolerated in humans. With these larger doses (hundreds/thousands mg) inhibition of hepatic (liver) drug metabolism may occur and cause an interaction with some medications and their metabolism. Further research is needed in this area of potential interactions along with chronic long term CBD use. Currently there are no published studies supporting the use of CBD products in pregnancy.
